Perth
Nightlife – Northbridge is Perth’s
entertainment and nightclub centre. James Street and
Lake Street are where the happening is. Something
to take note so as not to spoil the evening is the
quite strict dress code especially at weekends for
the more upmarket venues this works out a the basic
rules for guys is – a collared shirt and no
jeans, for the gals - no open-toed shoes. This may
vary at different clubs. The minimum age for drinking
in Australia is 18 years old.
As well as nightclubs, bars and discos there are
some excellent Restaurants in Perth
and Fremantle – they tend to serve “Australian”
food – steaks, seafood – but they do so
to a very high standard. Because Perth is a winegrowing
region, most restaurants have an excellent wine list.
There are also many ethnic restaurants in the area.
Of course with the weather Perth enjoys, much dining
is done out of doors. A real Australian thing is to
bring your own food and drink along to a barbeque
to an open air do – your hotel will fill you
in on the details.
